evangelism
Evangelism is a word that has lost its definition today. It can now mean anything but rarely that of talking to people about Jesus. We believe in the biblical understanding of evangelism.

Evangelism is telling people the specific message of the Gospel. This can only be done with words. This is not something you can do with your life. We go and tell people about the God who became man, who came to die in order to pay for our sin and later rose physically from the dead.

When we tell it the right way people are more likely to listen to what we say. This is our understanding of biblical evangelism.

See here the different forms of evangelism we are involved in.

personal evangelism   church based evangelistic meetings
We are regularly engaged in personal evangelism on a one to one level. This is a normal part of Christian life. We see this as something every Christian can and should be involved in.

When we bring people on outreaches we give them the opportunity to share their faith with people on a personal level. This is often exciting and builds confidence for sharing their faith later when alone and not in a team setting.

If you want the saints in your church to be active in personal evangelism then get them trained and bring them out on corporate outreach events.

We also preach the gospel in church meetings with the purpose of giving people the opportunity to get saved. This provides an opportunity for the saints to bring their friends, neighbours and others to hear the gospel in their church.

The goal is to have a clear and simple message with a call to repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus.

It is always encouraging to hear the gospel and to be reminded of the basics of the faith once again. So, it is also a time of encouragement for the saints.

street evangelism   church based campaigns
As can be seen in the photos we are also active on the street and can sometimes have quite large crowds listening to the message. This is preferably done with support and involvement from the local church. (Unfortunately the local church is not always happy to have the gospel preached on the street in their neighbourhood.)

We usually use a sketchboard to give a relatively cheap and low tech audio visual presentation of the gospel. This is very effective at getting people to stop, listen and stay interested. I have met people who have remembered and repeated messages they heard six months previously.

You remember approx. 75% of what you see and only 7% of what you hear. The combination of the audio in preaching and the visual on the sketchboard makes the gospel stick in people's minds for a long time -- even if they don't like it!

We sometimes also use other visual aids like conjuring tricks to get and hold people's attention as we explain the gospel.

We help in reaching out to church's loacal communities over a longer periond of time. This can be a weekend or a couple of weeks. It can be exciting as the saints in the church get personally involved. Before we start a campaign we bring a program of chalenge and training to the saints. This can be a great time to see the saints grow in their faith as they are challenged and equipped to go out and reach the lost.

The saints in the church are then mobilised and equipped to reach people not just for the duration of the campaign but also for the rest of their Christian walk.

This type of outreach can include going to the doors, open airs in the town centre, visiting local schools and church meetings. Of course you might come up with some other things too.
